An Announcement

By September 24, 2020 No Comments

I am a firm believer in giving back whenever possible. I am also a firm believer that those with privilege should use it for good whenever possible.

In building our PEPPR Packages, I want our customers to know that we are being as intentionally inclusive as possible. Our new PEPPR Pledge means that not only are we here to service the restaurant and hospitality industry in Kansas City, we’re also here to serve the community as a whole. And our community has some amazing organizations working to better it, and we want to support them as much as possible.

In deciding to commit to intentional inclusivity, we also want to acknowledge our privilege and give back to organizations we know are doing incredible work in the two aforementioned communities.

Announcing Our New Charitable Partnerships
When PEPPR Party Packages launch in just a few weeks (aiming for a mid October launch!) all of our packages will be representative of the Kansas City we know and love. Meaning, at least one business featured in each package will be minority-owned. While we are excited about the inclusivity of our packages, we know that the diversity of the city shouldn’t just be included…it should be celebrated.

This is why we’ve created two packages designed specifically to highlight businesses owned by folks who are often denied not only the spotlight, but basic business necessities like access to capital and opportunities to grow. One of our packages will include items sourced solely from Women Owned businesses, and another will feature businesses owned by Black Kansas Citians.

In deciding to commit to intentional inclusivity, we also want to acknowledge our privilege and give back to organizations we know are doing incredible work in the two aforementioned communities.

Profits from our Black Owned Party Package will be donated to G.I.F.T (Generating Income For Tomorrow). G.I.F.T is an incredible new organization that has already made a big impact in KC. Their mission is to provide grants to Black owned businesses in Kansas City, with a specific interest in businesses that operate in low income areas. By targeting Black owned businesses G.I.F.T seeks to close the massive funding gap that plagues Black business owners.

G.I.F.T has lofty goals to raise $180,000 in their first year in operation to help 8 Black owned businesses in KC. I personally must urge everyone reading this to visit G.I.F.T’s website and commit to donating just $10 a month, if we all chip in we can together fight the disparities that exist in the KC business community.

Profits from our  Womxn Owned Package will be shared with InnovateHER KC. IHKC is near and dear to me personally because of how many amazing people I’ve met through their amazing and supportive online and in-person community. IHKC is on a mission to connect, empower, and support womxn leaders. IHKC unites women to accomplish incredible things.

Through mentorship, professional development, amplify and champion women across many industries and chances are you know one or more incredible InnovateHers who are working to make our city stronger as we speak.

I could not be more honored to be partnering with these two incredible organizations, and it is my sincere hope that we are able to raise quite a bit of money for them as PEPPR launches and grows.

Until next time,
PEPPR Founder and CEO
